This is the first Piece in which Gordon had discovered the ‘Reductive Painting’ method, and its advantages of expression.  The artist reduces the outline or background of ‘found objects’ in their paintings.  For example, amidst the many layers of color and intersections- the artist ‘sees’ a figure reading or a scene in the painting, and reduces the ‘noise’ around that area to highlight the image.

In this way the artist develops an unintentional/found ‘scene’ where viewer and artist alike can enjoy interpreting the work.
